Golden Gate Area Council, Scouting America

The Golden Gate Area Council, Scouting America will host this year’s Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner on October 24th. The Award is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to their community and demonstrated outstanding leadership and service. This year’s event will honor Eagle Scout Alameda County Supervisor David Haubert. Supervisor Haubert’s participation will help us raise funds to support the council's programs and activities, which focus on developing leadership skills, character, and community service among young people.

Supervisor Haubert is a well-known figure in local politics where he has served in all levels of local elected office for over 20 years, including School Board Trustee, City Council Member, Mayor and his current position as Supervisor Haubert Alameda County Supervisor, District 1.  Supervisor Haubert also serves as Director on the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, Vice Chairman of the Alameda County Transportation Commission, and as member of the Community and Economic Development Committee of the California State Association of Counties and the National Association of Counties and member of the Dublin Rotary.  Supervisor Haubert enjoys local leadership where he concentrates on bipartisan efforts to improve the quality of life for all Bay Area residents.

The evening’s program will include networking, cocktails, and dinner at the beautiful Nella Terra Cellars winery and event venue in Sunol, between Fremont and Pleasanton. Funds raised from the Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner are used to support local Scouting’s leadership development training, summer camp scholarships for disadvantaged youth, and self-reliance and citizenship programs.  GGAC’s Scouting America serves over 11,500 young men and women from Fremont to Clearlake and from San Francisco to Livermore.
