For Everyone

Reminder: Important Change to New Adult Registration Process

Now in effect

Beginning March 4, new adults must pass their Criminal Background Check (CBC) before they are considered registered adult leaders. This delay may add 3-5 days after the New Adult Application is approved by the Chartered Org Rep.  This is a change being made nation-wide to the registration process.

This change will have the most impact to units that are trying to register adult leaders right before leaving on camping trips or Summer Camp. Be SURE to allow enough time for CBCs to complete for new leaders or they will NOT be permitted to stay overnight with the scout unit.

Roundtable: Everyone is welcome!

NEW: Older Scouts Needed as Cub Day Camp Counselors

      June 17-21

We need older Scouts to help run this program! Scouts that are interested in this leadership and service hour opportunity should email campyunakin@gmail.com and cc their parent and/or Scoutmaster. They should provide a short bio including:

      • The age and rank they will be at the start of camp.
      • What camp experience they have (if any).
      • Why they are interested in this experience.

Ideally, Scouts will be at least 12 and Scout rank but ultimately Scouts will be chosen based on their maturity, enthusiasm, and familiarity with the Scouting program. Younger Scouts will be support for the older Scouts that will primarily deliver the camp experience. Older Scouts with leadership experience and/or training will be given the most senior roles.

Bios are due by March 21st. We hope to have staffing decisions made by the end of March, with planning meetings to begin in April.

Scouts can expect to earn more than 50 service hours between planning meetings and the week of camp.

      Key 3 Corner

Featured this month: Keith Bauer, District Executive

I would like to take a moment to share a few points:
      • The GGAC is always looking for opportunities to spotlight district and unit activities from anywhere in the council! If you have a event or activity that you think showcases what makes your unit special please let our team know!
      • With Recharter completed for the district, you may be noticing a few Scouts or Scouters that have something wrong or missing from their my.scouting page. If this is the case, please notify your commissioner or myself, at keith.bauer@scouting.org.
      •  Unit Key 3, this is the season of unit assessment! I always think of it as a “unit physical” as it’s what allows the district and council to learn how best to support you. If your unit does not already have a date with your Unit or District Commissioner, please reach out to them post haste!
I would also like to thank you all for the warm welcome at the Recognition Dinner! It was a privilege to serve the Golden Gate District Last year and I look forward to continuing that support again!
