Summer fun continues! Read below my signature for some updates, upcoming events, and more.

Challenging everyone to continue "liking" and "sharing" our recent social posts on our district Instagram and Facebook pages to help increase awareness about scouting in SF. If you have summer scouting stories you'd like us to share, please submit photos and a short blurb here.

Please forward this email (or this link) to anyone who may find the information relevant and feel free to respond with any questions.

General FYIs

Incoming College Freshman Feature

We'd like to highlight scouts who graduated high school this year and are heading to college this fall, on our district social media accounts! Submit this form to be featured (or forward to a scout who may want to be included).

FOS Updates

As a reminder, Friends of Scouting (FOS) is the fundraising program for scouts in the Golden Gate District. Our District's goal for 2026 is $87,000 and so far we are about 70% to our goal (up from 50% last month!). We will be posting some regular donation asks on social media that would be great for any unit social media accounts & individuals to like and share to help spread the words to folks outside of scouting who may want to support. Here's our FOS donation link to share with your own network. Feel free to reach out to Charlotte for questions on social media or email fundraising asks. New: The council is launching sponsorships for businesses soon. If you know any local businesses who may be interested in sponsoring scouting, please reach out by responding to this email.

Reminders from Prior Emails

Events Calendar

Our official way of communicating events is via the monthly District Newsletter and in the District Calendar, but a lot of that doesn't reach parents, so we ask for your help in including District news and events in your newsletters and socials. Unofficially, the District Operating Committee also maintains a working calendar here, in case this is useful for leaders. More details on some of these events are in the Events & Camps section below.

Service Opportunities

Thanks/congrats again to Enoch Ho for stepping up as District Service Chair.  Come Fleet Week we will be asking for volunteers to guard exits and staff recruiting booths on Marina Green.  If you want any guidance on how to build and run a fun and impactful monthly service event program in your unit, reach out to Mr. Ho.  We also encourage any units to reach out to Mr. Ho if they have a service event organized that could use a few more hands from other units.

Recruiting Tables

Remember that as long as they are volunteer staffed,  our amazing District Executive Marisol Gonzalez can help you get Council funds to cover recruiting booths/tables. Units are able to recruit anywhere in the city they choose.  Look at the other tabs of the event calendar sheet, to see possibilities like the Union Street Festival, North Beach Festival, and Inner and Outer Sunset Farmers Markets.

Scout Advancement

T2088G Scoutmaster Peabody put together a program for getting Crossovers ranked up to Scout in two meetings via Scout run workstations here. There's also a new asset on getting Scouts to First Class in 12-18 months here. If your units would like help/advice implementing these, let District Training Chair Rob Oliver know!
