Recently, Eagle Scout and professional football player David Montgomery joined Scouts from our district at the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank to sort and pack fresh produce for local families as part of the kickoff of America 350 and Impact365. You can see the nation-wide coverage on Entertainment Tonight here.
We're so proud of all our scouts and scout leaders who helped out at this event, reminding our community that service is at the heart of scouting. Read on for some quick updates on upcoming events, first half 2026 calendar of district-wide events, and a reminder on how units can log their service hours. We've tried to streamline the format a bit.
Please forward this email, or the permanent link with the info, to anyone in your units who may find the information relevant and feel free to respond with any questions.
February's discussion was lively! For March, we're looking forward to an in-person roundtable -- if you have a possible meeting location, please let Lynn know.
Every year, Yosemite National Park publishes a catalog of available service projects. Groups that submit to, and win, the project lottery are then invited to camp -- for free -- at Yellow Pine, the administrative campground in Yosemite Valley. Most projects are for 18+ year old groups, but several are available for scout-aged groups. Requests received before 11:59pm on March 2nd will be assigned to their number in the queue at random by lottery. There is also a new patch available for units that provide 10 hours of service in any National Park.

Trash-the-Trash Day 2026 - Registration Now Open
May 2, 2026
Scouts Trash the Trash Day is an international Messengers of Peace project for Scouts around the world, where each Scout is challenged to bring a friend or family member along and pick up at least one Kilo (2.2 pounds) of trash each on the first Saturday in May. Scouts are asked to bring a non-scout with them on this day of service in order to double the impact of their trash cleaning effort. It's a day to show the world what Scouting is about, educate individuals about Scouting and recruit new boys, girls and adults into the Scouting movement. Register here to participate.
