Scouts Trash the Trash Day is an international Messengers of Peace project for Scouts around the world, where each Scout is challenged to bring a friend or family member along and pick up at least one Kilo (2.2 pounds) of trash each on the first Saturday in May.
The idea for Scouts Trash the Trash Day came from the scouts of Troop 1206 in Helena, Montana after realizing that there are several days throughout the year that Scouts get together and do the same thing on the same day. Days like Jamboree on the Air and Internet, Jamboree on the Trail, Trees for the World, World Neckerchief Day, but there was not a day for Scouts to all get together and clean up their communities. Thus Scouts Trash the Trash Day was started. Scouts are asked to bring a non-scout with them on this day of service in order to double the impact of their trash cleaning effort.
Scouts Trash the Trash Day is about more than just cleaning our planet, it is a day to show the world what Scouting is about, educate individuals about Scouting and recruit new boys, girls and adults into the Scouting movement.

Save the date! Registration coming soon. On June 29, scouts, friends and family are all invited to march in the Scouts for Equality – Golden Gate contingent. We march in the family/community section of the parade.
We Need Your Scout Stories!
This year, we want to expand our outreach on social to get more youth into Scouting and get more donations from the community. Golden Gate Area Council is collecting Scouting stories from all our Cubs, Scouts BSA, Sea Scouts, Venturers and Crews.
But we need your help. Please tell us a good Scout story.
If you have a funny, heroic, crazy, run from storm, rained out, helped someone, community service, Eagle project, Scouting for Food or any interesting story, please submit it to us using the link below.
What an incredible evening at our volunteer recognition dinner on March 11! A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us, and a special shoutout to Troop 333, Troop 3, and Venture Crew 21 for all of your volunteer work.
Congratulations to Robin Praeger and Derrick Quan, recipients of the District Award of Merit, the highest award at the district level. FILLING UP: Camp Yunakin (Cub Day Camp) Registration
June 16-20 @ Golden Gate Park
Join us for our incredible Cub Scout Day Camp from June 16th to 20th 2025 in Golden Gate Park! This Cub Camp is open to all youth entering the 1st – 5th Grade in Fall 2026.
From Pack 12: We’re thinking of upgrading our pinewood derby track and wanted to see if anyone else in the district might be doing this same. Ours is like 100 years old so someone else’s castoff would be a considerable step up for us assuming it’s not broken.
Beginner collectors are welcome and encouraged! Discover the fun of stamp collecting! Build a collection on a topic or country interesting to you. During this merit badge workshop, you will receive a stamp collecting starter kit and access to hundreds of stamps provided by stamp dealers.
Alaska Airlines and Boeing are proud to host our Annual Aviation Day at SFO on Saturday, June 14, 2025 for youth ages 11 to 18.
This free event is aimed at inspiring aviation dreams in youth in our local communities. Aviation Day provides the opportunity for young adults to learn about the various paths in the aviation industry as well as educational paths to a career. For a full list of the courses and their descriptions, please click here.
This event WILL FILL UP QUICKLY! Register today with your best-guess scout/adult count! There must be a 1:4 adult:youth ratio for this event. You can modify your group's registration (including adding or canceling youths) at any time using your email address and your confirmation code.
LAST CALL: Eagle Achievement Camp (SVMBC) - 90% Full!
June 29 to July 3 @ Camp Hi-Sierra
A truly amazing all-inclusive opportunity for any aspiring Eagle Scout!
Come up to Camp Hi-Sierra’s Eagle Achievement Camp.
Limited to the first 125 scouts, this camp has three scouts for each instructor to emphasize quality education. Eagle required badges typically not available at camp are offered because of the unique circumstances. You won’t miss out on amazing program opportunities like forging, shooting, climbing, or stargazing – those are included as well!
Unlike most Scouts BSA Summer Camps, scouts do NOT need to attend as part of a Troop. This event is Solo Camping/Provisional Focused, though Unit Camping is still supported.
Troop 479 in Cupertino has a High Adventure trip to Florida Sea Base planned for July 1 - 6 and are looking for some additional (solo) scouts to join in. This may be one of the only ways to go to Florida Sea Base this summer!
The Scouts BSA Test Lab is an exciting way to help in the development of fun and interesting new topics unique to the Scouts BSA program. The requirements for each badge have the look and feel of merit badges, but instead of a printed pamphlet, you will find links to digital resources to help you complete the requirements.
Featured this month: Paul Lanzi, District Commissioner
This month's District Recognition Dinner was a true joy. I, once again, had the honor of presenting Commissioner's Minute at the dinner a in speech titled "Well, I'm a Scout." Here is a short snippet from that speech:
All the stories from tonight share that same refrain: “Well, I’m a Scout.” And that refrain -- those words -- that claim -- it carries so much weight because it’s shorthand for so many things. It tells people: “I’m someone you can trust. I’ll hold myself accountable. I’m capable beyond my years, and I’m determined to keep learning. I’m part of a team. I care about helping others—even at my own risk, and I don't expect anything in return.”
As we enter the fifth year of welcoming girls into our Cub Scout and Scouts BSA programs, let us celebrate the power of these values. The Scout Oath and Law aren’t just words we recite; they are promises that we keep. And inclusion is at the heart of those promises. When we open our doors wider, we strengthen our organization, and we strengthen ourselves. By welcoming everyone who wants to stand for honesty, kindness, and service, we honor the very core of Scouting.
Everyone -- everyone -- must be given the opportunity to say to "well, I'm a scout."
