Watching the Fleet Week Airshow is a fun annual scouting tradition. The Sea Scouts, Venture Crew 21 and Pacifica Troop 74 hosted scouts and their families to watch this past weekend in Aquatic Park and enjoy a delicious lunch. It was an awesome place to watch the airshow planes fly directly overhead. Families got to hang out, eat, and watch the show on the lawn, meet other scouting families -- and go paddling on an outrigger canoe with the Makani Maritime Explorer Club in Aquatic Park.

At the same time, we'll also be doing Jamboree-on-the-Air (JOTA), which is the largest Scouting event in the world. JOTA uses amateur radio to link Scouts and hams around the world, around the nation, and in our own community. We hope to make contact with Scouts all over the world!
This event is open to ALL YOUTH! We welcome non-scouts as well as Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Sea Scouts, Venturers and Explorers from San Francisco and beyond.

Featured this month: Outgoing District Chair Robin Praegar
When I accepted the role of District Chair, I committed to serving for three years — and it’s hard to believe that time has already come to an end. As I pass the torch, I do so with immense pride in all that we’ve accomplished together, while recognizing that there is still work in progress and challenges ahead.
My focus has largely been on the adult-facing side of Scouting, at both the District and Council levels. I was able to do this confidently, knowing that you, our dedicated leaders, were delivering a strong and meaningful program for our youth. Thanks to your commitment, our district is well-positioned for continued success.
My return to Scouting has reminded me of the fun, character-building, and sense of purpose this program provides. Working alongside so many of you to ensure that today’s youth experience the same life-shaping opportunities that influenced my own development has been deeply rewarding.
The energy, camaraderie, and teamwork on display at so many of our events — from Recognition Dinners, Bike Rodeos, and Cub Scout Floats to Scouting for Food, Sunday Streets, the Good Scout Awards, Golden Gate Alumni Association gatherings, and the Royaneh 100 Celebration — have truly reflected the breadth, spirit, and strength of the Golden Gate District.
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to serve as your District Chair. Working with such capable, passionate, and committed Scouters has been both inspiring and humbling. I’ve gained many new friendships through our shared purpose and service.
I’m not going far — I’ll continue to serve on the GGAC Executive Board and remain active in the District as FOS Chair. I look forward to seeing you around.
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to Scouting
